An Evolving Style
Since receiving his B.F.A. degree from the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts in 1971, Gerald has continued to evolve. He is in a constant learning process and is always working to refine his craft and improve. With every piece he creates, his goal is to make something better than he ever has before.
His artwork is a big part of his life, and he finds pleasure in using his creative skills. He creates art based on his love of the sport—the will and want to create fine art.
A native of Boston, Gerald Parker currently resides in Plymouth. His first major body of work is titled Streets of My Youth. This photo essay spans from 1977 to 1980, and depicts the decline of Brockton from a large shoe-manufacturing city to the obscure town it is today.
During this project, he received an N.E.A. grant. In 2006, the Massachusetts Historical Society Review published his photographs of Brockton. His pieces have been exhibited around the country.
